The 2010 AAU Hockey Season Will Kick Off At The West Coast Winternaionals

 


 

AAU Hockey Hall Of Fame Class of 2008

The AAU Hockey Hall Of Fame announced it's second class of honorees at the 2008 AAU Junior Olympic Games in Philadelphia Pennsylvania.

The Hall of Fame Board submitted a final ballot containing 7 eligible nominees for the 2008 class including 3 nominees from the 2007 ballot that maintained the necessary votes to remain on the ballot for selection. Only 2 players received the necessary 75% of the votes to be elected to the Hall Of Fame while 3 others received enough votes to remain on the ballot for consideration with the 2009 Class.

The 2008 AAU Hockey Hall Of Fame class again called on 2 players from the early dominate teams of the AAU.

Mike was the MVP of the first two AAU Junior Olympic Games as he led his team to Gold Medals both years. A dominate offensive force who brought  a shot not seen in the early years of inline hockey. Mike was a 2 Time unanimous selection All American and the winner of the 1997 Joel Ferrell Award as the first time a hockey player was the Outstanding Athlete of the AAU Junior Olympic Games.

Mike went onto to play ice hockey at West Point where he graduated as a Lieutenant in the United States Army. Mike is a member of the AAU Hockey All Decade team.

Big, strong, quick and soft hands often described James Unger when he played. James was a dominate player on the rink leading his team to the championship 5 times taking the Gold Medal 3 times. James and his line mate Jim Slater (2007 Hall Of Fame) were the most dominate line to ever play in the AAU. James was  unstoppable and the opposing coaches noted this by honoring James 5 times as an AAU All American unanimous selection.

James went onto play Ice Hockey at Bowling Green University and played professionally in the East Coast Hockey League. James is a member of the AAU Hockey All Decade team and was a unanimous selections to the AAU Hockey Hall Of Fame Class of 2008.
