AAU Hockey Hall Of Fame Class of 2007The AAU Hockey Hall Of Fame announced it's first class of honorees at the 2007 AAU Junior Olympic Games in Detroit Michigan on the 10th anniversary of hockey being added to the AAU Junior Olympics. The Hall of Fame Board submitted a final ballot containing 10 eligible nominees for the 2007 class. The Hall of Fame Voting Committee elected 4 players to the inaugural Hall of Fame class and 2 others received enough votes to remain on the ballot for consideration with the 2008 Class. It came as no surprise that these four players made up the inaugural class as these four players were teammates on one of the most dominate teams to ever play in the AAU . Jim Slater was one of the most dominate offensive forces to ever play in AAU Hockey. Jim led his Team Xtreme team to the championship game in each of his 4 years including in 1999 in two divisions winning 3 Gold Medals. Jim was also named MVP twice at the AAU Junior Olympics. Jim's stick handling was a show in it's own. When he had the puck no one could strip him of it and it usually ended up in the back of the net. When his team played, they drew the largest audiences ever seen at the Junior Olympics and Jim was a huge reason for that. He won the hardest shot contest each year and in 2001 won the contest with a recorded 103mph shot which brought the crowd to it's feet. Jim went onto play ice hockey at the Michigan State University where he was a finalist for the Hobie Baker Award as the nations top collegiate hockey player. Jim played ice hockey on the 2002 Team USA Juniors and in 2006 as a member of Team USA at the Mens World Ice Hockey Championships. In 2002 Jim was a 1st Round selection of the Atlanta Thrashers of the National Hockey League where he currently plays as a professional. Jim is a member of the AAU Hockey All Decade team and was a unanimous selection to the AAU Hockey Hall Of Fame Class of 2007.
Considered the best Defenseman to play in the AAU and this was certified by his 11 All American honors and the 8 times his selection was unanimous as voted by the opposing coaches. In 1999 Alan was the winner of the Joel Ferrell Award as the Outstanding Athlete Of The AAU Junior Olympic Games and was named the Top Amateur Athlete of 1999 by the Greater Cleveland Sports Club which honors the top professional and amateur athletes each year in the Greater Cleveland Ohio area. When he retired from the AAU he held records in Most Assists Overall, Most Goals By Defensemen, Most Assists By Defensemen, Most AAU All American Awards (Entire AAU), and Most Medals Won. A two time member of Team USA Juniors he helped bring 2 Gold Medals to his country. Alan went onto play Ice Hockey at the University Of Findlay and also taught Ice Hockey at the prestigious International Hockey Camp in the Czech Republic. Alan is a member of the AAU Hockey All Decade team and was a unanimous selection to the AAU Hockey Hall Of Fame Class of 2007.
Steve was speed undefined. Soft hands and an amazing ability to find the back of the net made Steve a 10 time All American selection. Steve led the nation is scoring 5 years and when he retired from the AAU led the AAU History Books in Overall Scoring and Most Goals Scored. Steve played on 2 Team USA Junior teams and also on the Team USA 21u team winning Gold all 3 times. Steve went onto play inline and ice hockey at Lindenwood University where he won 2 Collegiate National Championships in inline hockey. Steve is a member of the AAU Hockey All Decade team and was a unanimous selection to the AAU Hockey Hall Of Fame Class of 2007.
Simply known at "The Glove". Ryan was a wall behind one of the greatest teams to play in the AAU. Shooters soon found out that trying to go glove side on him was useless as he had one of the fastest glove hands around. A student of Vladislav Tretiak and Ed Belfour, Ryan brought his ice hockey abilities to the inline game and was a dominate force between the pipes. A 8 Time All American selection, Ryan held records for Total Wins, Lowest GAA, Save Pct and Games Played when he retired from playing in the AAU. Ryan was an alternate to the Team USA Juniors in 2002. Ryan is also a member of the AAU Hockey All Decade team. Ryan was a unanimous selection to the AAU Hockey Hall Of Fame Class of 2007.
